The number of private cars imported to Israel has declined by 2.54% in the third quarter of 2022 totaling 58,121, according to data released by the Israel Tax Authority.
Several Israeli holidays, resulting in fewer workdays and imports, were observed in October of this year instead of September of last year, the number implies a steeper drop.
“The low numbers in recent months are due to difficulty in obtaining vehicle inventory,” said Tomer Hadar, editor for the Israeli newspaper Calcalist.
“This was caused by a rise in raw material prices and a drop in global manufacturing,” he added.
The number of private cars imported in September boosted by 29.8 percent year-on-year to 16,705.
However, this is still a low figure, as the monthly boost was recorded because of a significantly smaller figure for September 2021.
