Range Rover Sport Hybrid confirmed for Frankfurt arrival in September

A Land Rover representative has recently confirmed that they will unveil a hybrid version of the new Range Rover Sport in Frankfurt this September.

Chief Programme Engineer of Land Rover for Range Rover Sport, Stuart Frith, said that the greener Range Rover Sport will adopt a diesel-electric hybrid powertrain. The model will also be presented with a SDV8 diesel with 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, while later on during the car’s lifespan there are plans of offering a 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine.

The Ranger Rover Sport Hybrid is likely to adopt an evolution of the technology that was seen in the 2011 Range_e plug-in hybrid model. That one had a 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel engine with output capacity of 242 hp (180 kW) with electric motor engine with an output of 93 hp (69 kW) giving a combined output of 334 hp (249 kW). It also had a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission gearbox and a 14.2 kWh lithium-ion battery.

At that time Land Rover has said that the concept would provide an electric range of 20 miles (32 km) and a total range of 690 miles (1,112 km). The fuel consumption specified for the concept was 85 mpg UK (71 mpg US or 3.3 liters / 100 km) with CO2 emissions of 89 g/km.
