RM Auctions just concluded their first ever Sporting Classics of Monaco with total sales pegged at $45,101,139 and 88 classy vehicles out of 105 in the line up swapping ownership. Records were also broken during the event with fiver cars selling for more than €2,000,000.
On the top of the billing is a Ferrari 400 from 1962, This Superamerica Cabriolet Pininfarina SWB is now the priciest Superamerica of all time as it went for €2,800,000 or approximately $3,799,600.
Coming in at second place is a Tipo 61 Birdcage 1960 Maserati that that had a sale price of €2,464,000 or a whopping $3,343,648. It is also the highest price for a Birdcage to date.
The honorable mentions go to a 1962 Ferrari250 GT SWB Berlinetta ($3,571,624), and a 1957 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Tour de France ($3,191,664) and a Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spyder ($2,811,704). You can check out the list of the top sales below on our gallery.
The RM Auction was definitely a big success. The debut Monaco Sporting Classics had bidders from 33 countries, 28% of which are first timers. About 3,000 people watched the auction online. The event was held last May 1, 2010 at the halls of Grimaldi Forum.
