This car was none other than a one-off joint-custom car from Mustang powerhouses Shelby and Roush. It was therefore indeed a lucky one who could pick up the SR-71 Mustang at a cost of $375,000. It was possible for the car was up for sale through a charity auction held by EAA’s AirVenture auction this week.

The car is fitted with a 5.0 liter engine and the engine work, suspension and exhaust from Ford while the intake is Roush; Recaro seats bear the signatures of both Jack Roush and Carroll Shelby. The track pack is SVT and the steering wheel is a customized one of racing style. There is a modified navigation package installed and has a roll cage along with some additional good looking exterior modifications.

Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) the charity organization through which this auction was held organizes events through which children between 8 and 17 are able to take free rides in airplanes. The aim of the program is to build interest of the children in the aviation industry. There are 42,000 volunteer pilots in this activity.

With the Beachcraft Premier jet crash landing at Wittman Regional airport in Wincinson there is greater need to mould future flying aspirants at a younger age into the nuances of flying.
