There are many who would question the wisdom behind buying a hybrid car when you need to have it tuned to enhance its performance which in turn can lead to loss of fuel economy. The very prime reason of going for the hybrid version itself is lost. SpeedART tuning firm differs from this view and they have proved it so by their tuning efforts on the Porsche Cayenne Hybrid so that the SUV gives more power only when required or desired. The tuning does not affect the capability of the SUV when it is running in pure electric mode wherein the CO2 emission and fuel consumption factors remains zero
The tuning firm from Germany has significantly increased the output of the 3.3 liter supercharged V6 TSI engine from its original of 333 hp to 407 hp. The combined power output of the car in petrol electric mode therefore increases from 380 hp to 450 hp. Acceleration increases by half a second seconds and is 6.0 second instead of 6.5 seconds for reaching 62 mph or 100 kmph from standing still. The top speed also improves by 10 kmph and is 252 kmph or 157 mph post tuning.
The tuning work includes a sport exhaust system and a sound switch along with two tail pipes of 100 mm diameter. There is also the forged alloy wheels of 22 inch dia. The original wheels are cast and measure 21 inch. The allow wheels are wrapped in 275/30 ZR22 tires at the front and 315/30 ZR22 at the back. There is no effect on fuel consumption due to these modifications since as per SpeedART, the new wheels weight as much as the wheel that it replaces.
The tuning also is effected with the decals which is done up in light blue in the external areas. There is also the lowering kit that is given for those cars having air ride system. For the conventional suspension equipped cars lowering springs are offered.
For interior there is the new turbo pressure gauge that is mounted on the dashboard and the rev counter on the instrument panel is given a grey finish.
