Three young people were killed after a car struck a tree in East Los Angeles on early Friday morning.
The crash took place around 12:30 a.m. on Olympic Boulevard, near Herbert Avenue when a Volkswagen Jetta was accelerating east on Olympic Boulevard and the driver lost control and struck into a tree. The Jetta then engulfed.
A big-rig driver, who was passing by, rushed over and utilized his fire extinguisher to extinguish the flames.
Its three occupants, including two men and a woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. They were identified as 21-year-old named Julian Mendesguia, a 19-year-old named Abigail Chantal Flores and an 18-year-old named Jahmai Jibsam Flores.
California Highway Patrol investigated the crash.
