Three killed after train hits car in Gary, Indiana

Two kids and a woman died on Tuesday morning after a train hit a car in Gary, Indiana.

The crash took place around 7:30 a.m., near the intersection of Miller Avenue and Howard Street.

The vehicle tried to beat the train across the tracks but failed.

Three victims, identified as Shermika Herbert, 37, Deyki Mitchell, 13, and Deniya Brown, 11, were pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is being investigated.
