Images that appearently show us the Toyota FT-86 in its standard production form have leaked on the web. Thanks to the guys at FT86club, we can see in the first two photos the new Toyota sports coupe in original, non-customised form, while in the third we can observe two optional aerodynamics packages: Type-A on the left and Type-B on the right.
These scans reveal simple bumper and skirt lines, which give the car a touch of style and simplicity, without taking away its character.
The LED headlight inserts have made way for a more conventional headlamp assembly and the thin-spoke alloy wheels are more elegant. The rear end retains the clear-lens taillights and aggressive diffuser of earlier leaks and sketches.
It is likely that the production version of the Toyota Ft-86 will be simply called “86”, and it will be revealed alongside Subaru BRZ at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show on November 30.
It has been confirmed by Toyota Australia that the new sportscar will be sold locally, with the two-door four-seater scheduled to land in showrooms around the middle of 2012.
The power for the production model will come from a front-mounted 2.0-litre Boxer engine developed in collaboration with Subaru. Six-speed manual and automatic transmissions will send power to the rear wheels, promising proper sports car ride and handling characteristics.
