A week ago we saw the European introduction of the 2012 Toyota Hilux. Now Toyota has prepared something new for us: the brand have also launched their Asian market variants in Thailand. The Hilux Vigo as well as its SUV sibling, the seven-passenger Fortuner, were launched by some of Toyota’s top brass.
These two new models – Hilux Vigo and Fortuner sport – have the same styling revisions with their European counterpart including the new front end with the chromed out, razor edge grille, new alloy wheel options, and interior refinements such as the redesigned instrument panel plus trim and equipment updates.
In Asia, more exactly in Thailand, the Fortuner SUV is offered with two diesel engines, a 3.0 Litre unit that churns out 163HP and a 2.5 Litre delivering 144hp. Beside this, the Thai market also gets a 2.7 Litre gasoline unit rated at 160hp.
After its debut in Thailand, the new Fortuner will also make its debut in Malaysia soon, Malaysians will be offered 2.5 Litre petrol and diesel variants as well as 2.7 Litre diesel and petrol units.
The final price for Malaysia not yet been announced, but the rumour has it that it will start at approximately RM165,000, but this isn’t sure yet.

Great design in general, but the wheels just don’t fit with all that massive car.
