Two people were killed and one person was critically injured after an SUV they were in was torn in half by a speeding car on Route 40 in Fairwinds, Delaware.
The crash took place around 8:30 p.m. on Thursday when a Kia Sorrento SUV pulled into the eastbound lanes and was struck broadside by a Dodge Charger.
The SUV was split in half by the impact.
A 31-year old woman died in the hospital and a 7-year old boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
A 9-year old girl was critically injured.
The boy was pronounced dead at the scene; the girl is listed in critical condition at Christiana Hospital.
The driver of the Dodge, an 18-year old man from Lansdowne, was in stable condition.
The road was closed for three hours and was later reopened as Delaware State Police investigates the crash.
