Two people died following a rollover vehicle crash on Monday afternoon in Batavia, Illinois that involved six vehicles, according to a news release from police.

The crash took place just after 1:30 p.m. in the 1300 block of South Kirk Road, with one vehicle flipped on its roof with its two occupants dead.

Their identities were not released.

Two occupants of another car were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash involved a tractor semi-trailer, a tractor pulling a fuel tank, and four passenger cars.

The crash took place when attempting to change the lane, one of the passenger cars hit the semi-trailer, causing the passenger car to cross over into oncoming traffic before coming to rest on its roof.

The crash is under investigation.
