Two killed after car crash in Merrick County

Two people were killed following a two-vehicle crash near Chapman in Merrick County, Nebraska on early Wednesday morning.

The said emergency crews were notified of the crash around 5:25 a.m.

Officials saw on their arrival that an eastbound SUV, driven by a 29-year-old, identified as Zachery Shultz from Chapman, crossed the center line and crashed with a westbound sedan, driven by a 50-year-old identified as Scott Ellis from Marquette.

Both drivers were the only occupants in the two vehicles.

Both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

Both were not using seat belts.

Merrick County Sheriff’s Office together with Nebraska State Patrol and other agencies investigated the crash.
