Two killed after two-vehicle crash in New Russia Township

Two people died on Tuesday afternoon after a two-car crash in New Russia Township, Lorain County, Ohio.

The crash took place around 4 p.m. near Oberlin and Russia roads, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The victims involved a 65-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man. The woman was identified as Susan J. Van Keuren, of Grafton and the man was been identified as Mason A. Smith, of Elyria.

Van Keuren was a passenger in a 2014 Nissan Versa which was going east on Russia Road. Smith was driving a 2005 Dodge 1500 north on Oberlin Road when he overlooked a stop sign and crashed with the Nissan.

Van Keuren was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Nissan’s driver, a 66-year-old man, and Smith were admitted Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center who was in serious condition.

Smith succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
