Two killed and eight injured after car crash in Cumberland County

Two parents were killed and their eight children were injured after a car crashed in Cumberland County, Virginia on Sunday night.

The crash took place when a Toyota Tundra rear-ended the buggy. The driver briefly fled from the scene but returned a short time later.

The 38-year-old mother identified as Barbie Esh, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her husband, identified as John Z Esh, 39, succumbed to injuries in hospital the following day.

The couple’s eight children, ranging in age from nine months to 16 years old, were admitted to the hospital.

All eight of the children were treated and released from the hospital by 20 October.

The driver of the Toyota, whose identity has not been released, was not injured in the crash.

Virginia State Police investigated the crash.
