Two people died following a car crash into a home in Palm Harbor, Florida on Friday night.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) said four men were heading north on Manning Road in a 2021 Tesla Model S Plaid were driving at a high speed. When the driver failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Manning Road and Hermosa Drive, he hit the embankment while going through the intersection, letting the car in the air before it struck into a house on Caird Way, going through the resident’s exterior rear walls.
The car ended up hitting and killing one of the three residents at the home, a 69-year-old woman. The driver and two passengers suffered severe injuries while another passenger, a 43-year-old man from Odessa, succumbed to injuries at a hospital.
FHP confirmed that the Tesla was not in autopilot mode when the crash took place.
