Colored in red chrome tone, the Spyder ABT R8 GT S is a visual treat. It was indeed a sight to look at the 2011 Geneva Auto Show. The middle section of the car with extensive use of carbon seen from bonnet to the rear wing provides the contrast. During the stage of designing, the Motorsport Department of ABT Sportsline had its focus on reducing the weight, and distributing the weight perfectly. The Cabrio is clearly one of the fastest existing vehicles with dynamic carbon inlays at the side and on the covers of engine and convertible-top. The front and rear bonnets, windscreen frame cover, red air scoops, engine cover, or even the mirrors are not mere design.
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CRP) is the key ingredient of the car that makes it light. The sports sedan is having optimum weight to attain performance of the highest measure. Because of ABT power, the car now has an output of 620 HP (456 kW). In the light of comparison, the standard models deliver 525 HP (386 kW), which translates to a generous 20 percent boost to the performance of the show car. The ABT R8 GT S has the capability to accelerate from zero to 100 kmph in 3.6 seconds and the top speed that it can attain is 320 kmph.
The Cabrio has the 5.2 liter V10 engine that makes it perfect for use on a daily basis. Basically, the “hot open-top sports car” can be used for any principle. With the ABT suspension, the set up is optimal under all conditions. The exhaust system of the spots car offers good acoustics and forms an integral part of the design. It is in absolute sync with the diffuser, rear wing and trapeze-shaped rear skirt. Apart from being very fast, the car is gorgeous to look at with all its light metal alloy ABT BR in 20 or the CR Superlight in 19 inch
