2015 Maserati Levante comes into focus

The latest report indicates that the upcoming 2015 Maserati Levante will have lots of things in common with the new Quattroporte and Ghibli.

The Maserati Levante was recently previewed by the Kubang Concept and is expected to have an aluminum-intensive body and a core structure that borrows components from its sedan counterparts. We can also expect that the production model may come with some Chrysler-sourced electronics but their extent might be limited.

Engine options will reportedly carryover from the Quattroporte and Ghibli models and so we can expect three choices which are:
• A twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 engine with output of 410 HP (310 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft) of torque
• A twin-turbo 3.8-liter V8 engine with output of 530 HP (390 kW) and 710 Nm (542 lb-ft) of torque
• A 3.0-liter V6 turbo-diesel engine with output of 275 HP (202 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque

The engines will mostly be mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the ground via a modified version of Maserati’s all-wheel drive system.

Maserati had originally planned to build the Levante at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant based in Detroit, but the demand of Jeep Grand Cherokee is so strong that it will have to be built in the Italy plant instead.
