The S5 coupe in the UK, US and German market continues to have the 4.2 liter V8 which delivers 354 hp of power. The S5 convertible on the other hand has the 3.0 liter Supercharged V6 which delivers 333 hp. There has been an upgraded model of the S5 Coupe and Convertible released by APS who is the UK based importer of the Sportec, a Swiss tuning brand. The model has a 3.0 TSI V6 installed on it.
In the first stage of the tuning process the tuner has modified the performance package for the Audi 3.0 TSI V6 with a free flowing air filter element as well as an ECU remap. This modification increases the power by 97 hp from the S5’s 3.0 liter V6 unit. Though this is not too much yet it boosts up the power output from 328 bhp and 440 Nm that is 325 lb ft torque to 425 bhp which it achieves at 6.640 rpm and 520 Nm that is 379 lb ft torque which it attains at 4,250 rpm. These figures rival that of the RS5.
As per Sportec, these modifications would lead to an acceleration factor of 0 to 62 mph that is 100 kmph in 4.6 seconds. This means an improvement by 0.5 seconds over the standard model and also equals the RS5 coupe statistic. The top speed for the tuned model would be limited electronically at 155 mph or 250 kmph.
The Stage One upgrade version is available at a price of £1,950 which is inclusive of VAT and fitment charges and is available in the UK markets.
