With the Paris Motor Show arriving closer by date and specifically this month itself, carmakers have increased their frequency of announcements of new entries into the market. Lexus for example has announced a revised 2011 model named IS series which is targeting the European market. The car comes with some cosmetic changes and some features which have been added to the standard model along with the diesel engine model that it would be available in.

In case of the sedan and coupe-convertibles, the headlamps have been modified and now incorporate the LED daytime running lights. The car would also come with a reworked rear light cluster as well a new front grille design. There are also the new alloy wheel design as well as new exterior color.

There would also be the 2011 F-Sport that has been modified with a new deep front spoiler with faired-in fog lights. The grille design and the rear spoiler would be integrated with the stop light. The 2011 F-Sport sedan will also get new 18 inch alloy wheels while the interior of the car also is modified with some titanium effect and new dark anthracite roof liner.

The IS range of modifications include some additions that make the car SE-I specification compliant. There is the wiper that has rain sensing feature built into it while the rear view mirror has been endowed with auto dimming feature. All this while the upholstery has been redone with new leather and includes heated front seats.

There would be a new IS 200d model being announced which would have a 150 hp version of the 2.2 liter engine which otherwise delivers 177 hp. For the UK market this model would be up for sale instead of the 220d whereas for the market in Germany and Europe the diesel models would be sold together.

The specifications of the IS 200d is such that its acceleration goes from 0 to 62 mph (100 kmph) in 10.2 seconds flat. The top speed of the car is 127 mph or 205 kmph. The fuel efficiency of the car reads as 5.1 liter to every 100 km or 55.4 mpg in UK standards and 46.1 mpg in US standards. CO2 emissions are 134 g/km which is low when compared with the IS 220d’s 148 g/km.

Changes have also been effected to the 2.5 liter V6 petrol engine that is fitted on the IS 250 and the IS 250 coupe convertible. The transmission of these models is six speed automatic. Lexus has also announced the revision of its V6 unit which would cater for Euro 5 emission standards and also give better fuel economy.

The power output will however remain unchanged, that is 208 hp and 252 Nm of torque though the combined cycle fuel consumption reduces from 9.1 liter / 100 km to 8.4 liter per 100 km. This converts to 33. 6 mpg in UK. The emission figures also show a marked decrease from 209 to 194 g/km.

Official display of the 2011 Lexus IS would take place at the Paris Motor Show to be held this month and sales should commence in a few months time thereafter.
