China saw more than 1.1 million new-energy cars registrations in the first half of this year, a record high for the same period in any year, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

The number represents more than 200% increase from the same period in 2020 and accounts for almost eight percent of the total car registrations.

By the end of June, the country had 6.03 million new-energy vehicles, which is 2.06 percent of the whole number of cars in the country.
