Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) has released a statement following CEO Sergio Marchionne’s conference at the White House with President Donald Trump.
FCA reiterated in the statement that it shares a common goal with President Trump in desire to bring more jobs back to U.S. and develop a strong production base in the United States.
“I appreciate the President’s focus on making the U.S. a great place to do business” Marchionne stated. “We look forward to working with President Trump and members of Congress to strengthen American manufacturing.”
Trump was happy with FCA’s recent decision to spend $1 billion in its U.S. production ventures. FCA had also clarified that it had prepared to make financial investments in American manufacturing before Trump’s election. The investments were made so FCA could construct the new Jeep Wrangler JL and Jeep Wrangler pickup at its Toledo, Ohio assembly plants and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer and Wagoneer SUVs at Warren, Michigan site.
Ford CEO Mark Fields and General Motors CEO Mary Barra likewise had breakfast meeting with Trump. A formal agenda for the breakfast discussion was not advertised, however White House press secretary Sean Spicer stated the general topic would remain in regards to job creation in the U.S.
