Indiana Representative Jackie Walorski and three others were killed after a car crash on Wednesday afternoon.
The crash took place when Walorski, 58, was traveling southbound in an SUV with two other people on SR 19 near Nappanee, Indiana, when a car traveling northbound crossed the dividing line and struck head-on into the SUV.
All three occupants in the SUV were killed.
The victims as Walorski; Zachery Potts, 27; and Emma Thomson, 28.
The driver of the other vehicle, a 56-year-old identified as Edith Schmucker, was also killed in the crash.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi ordered flags to half-staff at the Capitol following the crash, a spokesman for her wrote on Twitter.
President Joe Biden said he and first lady Jill Biden are “shocked and saddened” after Walorski’s death.
The Elkhart County Coroner’s Office and the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the crash.
