General Motors reported a second straight decline in quarterly U.S. auto sales on Tuesday.

The sales decline can be attributed to the continued shortages of semiconductors and supply chains that have hit production.

The automaker said fourth-quarter sales declined 43% to 440,745 vehicles, compared with 771,323 vehicles a year ago.

General Motors said 2021 sales were at 2,218,228 vehicles, less than Toyota Motor’s annual sales of 2,332,262 vehicles.
