Seltos is expected to perform well in India
Kia Motors, are set to raid the Indian market with the launch of their mid-SUV Kia Seltos. The trial production of the car started in January and the final product is ready within 6 astonishing months. Kia motors commenced the bookings for the car on July 16th for a price of 25000. Subsequently they received a mammoth 6046 orders on the first day itself, across 206 sales points and their official website.
The Kia Seltos will have three powertrain options for the customers to choose from. The first one is a 1.4 litre Turbo GDI Petrol engine which can produce 140hp and 242nm of torque. This option will have a 6 -speed manual gearbox along with a 7- speed DCT . Secondly there is a 1.5 litre option which can produce upto 115 hp and 144 nm torque. This option will also come with a 6-speed gearbox and CVT. In addition this, there will be a diesel option. The 1.5 litre diesel variant will produce 115hp and 250 Nm of torque. Similarly this variant also has a 6 speed manual gearbox but in addition to that, the version will have a 6-speed torque converter. We can expect the mileage to be around 16kmpl – 20.8 kmpl. This fuel efficiency in this car is perfect for Indians.
The car will compete majorly with the likes of Hyundai Creta, a mid-SUV which has been very successful in India. The Mahindra XUV-500, Renault Captur and the Tata Harrier are the other competitors. Prices will range between 10 lakh ( ex-showroom) – 16 lakhs ( ex-showroom). The Seltos will come in 8 singular tones and 5 dual tone color options. Moreover, the Seltos boasts of a connected system. There will be 37 features under fiver different categories- navigation, vehicle management, safety and security, convenience, remote control complimented by a UVO Connect system.
