New Porsche Panamera Diesel has fuel economy figures of 6.3lt/100km or 37.3mpg

A diesel powered version of the Panamera Sports salon from Porsche would soon be available in the European market. The car sports a Porsche-tuned version of the Volkswagen Group’s widely used 3.0-liter V6 TDI employing common rail direct injection technology and electrically controlled variable geometry turbochargers (VGTs). This is also considered to be one of the most fuel efficient models in the Panamera range.

Max power output that the engine develops is at the RPM range between 3,800 and 4,400 which is 250 hp. The peak torque is developed between 1,750 rpm to 2,750 rpm and the value is 550 Nm or 405.7 lb ft. For transmission the V6 engine is mated to an eight-speed Titronic S transmission which delivers the power to the rear wheels, while a start/stop system comes as standard.

The combined fuel consumption rate of the Panamera when fitted with standard tires is 6.5 liter per 100 km which equates to 36.2 mpg US or 43.5 mpg UK. The CO2 emissions of the car is 172 g/ km. If the low rolling resistance tires is taken as an option the fuel consumption changes to 6.3 liter per 100 km which equates to 37.3 mpg US or 44.8 mpg UK. CO2 emission also changes to 167 g/km. The tank capacity is 80 liter and the expected range one could get with a full tank is 1,200 km or 746 miles.

The Panamera Hybrid if compared returns 6.8 lt/100 km (34.6 mpg US.) with CO2 emissions of 159 g/km. This car uses a 333 hp 3.0-liter V6 TSI gasoline engine along with a 47 hp electric motor and is equipped with low rolling resistance tires.

As per Porsche the Panamera Diesel is capable of accelerating from standstill to 100 kmph or 62 mph in 6.8 seconds. Top speed of the car is 242 kmph or 150 mph.

Starting August sales of the Panamera is to start in Europe and the price fixed is €80,183 (US$119,200) in Germany and from £62,134 (US$92,300) in the UK.
