Nissan to build battery recycling factories in the US and Europe by 2025

Nissan Motor prepares to build new battery recycling factories in the United States and Europe by the end of fiscal 2025.

The news was first reported by Nikkei.

The automaker hopes that recycling batteries and re-using them in electric vehicles would help reduce production costs as the price of rare metals increase, the report said.

The factories would be the automaker’s first battery recycling facility constructed outside of Japan, the report added, without mentioning the location in Europe where the factory would be built.

Nissan has not commented on the report.

This plan could be part of the wider plan of the automaker to spend 2 trillion yen in electric vehicles.
