Nissan developing a hybrid race car for Le Mans

by SpeedLux

As per the latest report, Nissan is developing a hybrid race car which means that the Audi R18 e-Tron quattro could be getting a hybrid competitor at next year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The hybrid race car is expected to be designed by Ben Bowlby, of DeltaWing fame, and the car will reportedly be able to run on electricity alone for short periods of time.

When asked about the car, Andy Palmer the Executive Vice President of Nissan told Autocar that the final configuration of the drivetrain is still up for discussion but he confirmed that they had made significant progress towards the same. He further stated that Nissan has to be in a position where they can showcase the latest electric technology and for that they have to make a car that would be as visually arresting as the DeltaWing.
