Toyota Motor on Monday stated it was suspending auto production in its Brazil plants for until at least June 22, due to the increase of coronavirus.

The automaker has joined General Motors (GM) with suspending automaker as GM also expects to restart production in the same month.

Most automakers in Brazil, South America’s top auto producer, are not presently producing cars because of the coronavirus crisis. Major Brazil players such as Fiat Chrysler and Volkswagen AG are yet to announce when they expect to restart production.

About 26,112 people in Brazil have been confirmed as being infected with the coronavirus. The virus has killed 1,590 people in the country.
