Bugatti Galibier Gets Green Light For Production

by Alex

After many rumors Bugatti has confirmed the production of a four-door Veyron, so the Bugatti Galibier is back on the agenda at Bugatti.

The 16C Galibier was unveiled in 2009 as a concept. It had a detuned version of the Veyron’s engine, with 900bhp and increased torque. After that, it’s made an appearance at 2010 Geneva Motor Show, featuring just a new paintjob.

Now, according to Auto Express, Wolfgang Dürheimer (Bugatti and Bentley boss) has confirmed the company is “committed to a four-door Bugatti”, and promised to deliver even more muscle from the W16 unit. He stated for Auto Express: “The Galibier didn’t have four-digit power. It has to be above 1,000bhp. We shouldn’t limit ourselves.”

Wolfgang Dürheimer added that 1,500 models could be produced, from as soon as late 2012 and this would coincide with the end of production of the Veyron. Beside this, Bugatti and Bentley boss stated: “Bugatti needs to add as much value to the company as it costs”.

It might seem a minor aspect for people who can’t afford a Bugatti, but this aspect is very important, for example, for Asian customers, where buyers expect the latest in-car gadgets. Galibier will also come with more legroom and more updates. Dürheimer confirmed the price would be “beyond the Veyron,” that costs £1million-plus.
