Volkswagen entry-level brand to have three versions

David BondVolkswagen13 years ago7 Views

Volkswagen might have stopped buying, but the company hasn’t given up on plans for a new entry-level brand.

It has been reported that the brand will have a three-vehicle lineup that consists of a €7000 ($9,120) sedan, a €7500 ($9,790) wagon and an €8000 ($10,435) MPV. These models could eventually be joined by a €9000 ($11,750) crossover and an affordable three-door hatchback.

Obviously the vehicles will come thinly equipped to keep their prices as low as possible. Hopefully there will be a few options, but they will be squeezed into three or four packages to ease production.

All the models are expected to have a 2500mm wheelbase and ride on the PQ platform that outperforms the outgoing Polo and Passat. There’s even assumption that the models could shun basic features such as power steering and rear disc brakes.

Engine specifications remain unofficial but choices could include three- and four-cylinder units with displacements ranging from 1.2- to 1.6-liters.
They will be connected to five- and six-speed manual transmissions as well as an optional seven-speed automatic.

Since More updates and information needs to come out of company’s official press release, stay tuned and enjoy browsing the pictures.
