2012 BMW M5 renderingLatest rumor is that the next-generation BMW M5(codenamed F10) will get a new twin-turbocharged V10 engine that packs around 600 horsepower.

This engine will be based on the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 that powers the X5 M and X6 M.

This über Bimmer is not just about raw power. It will be also more fuel efficient than the current model. It will feature a Formula 1 style KERS system that will store the energy from braking. This system will also feature a boost button that will allow the driver to unleash all the energy at the push of a button.

In addition new M5 will use the start-stop technology and ability to turn off individual cylinders for better fuel economy. At the moment two gearboxes are considered: an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox(DCT) and a more advanced eight-speed SMG.

Next-generation M5 is expected to arrive in mid 2011 and before official debut there will be more rumors, spy photos and leaked images as always.
