2014 Leaf gets a 180 USD price bump, Nissan wants to double U.S. sales

by SpeedLux

The Nissan Leaf has received a minor price hike of 180 USD for the 2014 model year in U.S.

Nissan plans on selling the 2014 Leaf in the same S, SV and SL trim levels and the base model will now come with a price of 28,980 USD (excluding 850 USD destination & handling charges) which makes it costlier by USD 180. However the model also qualifies for a federal income tax credit of 7,500 USD, as well as other local and state incentives applicable in certain areas across United States.

Customers can configure the EV with a variety of optional packages with goodies such a seven-speaker Bose sound system and Around View Monitor. The price increase can be justified by the now standard RearView Monitor which up until now was available within the optional Charge Package. Also new for the 2014MY is a fresh paint called Gun Metallic which increases the number of exterior hues to seven.

Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn had recently told Automotive News that he wants Leaf sales to double in the U.S. compared to 2013 when they managed to sell 22,610 units, which represents an impressive 130 percent increase over the year 2012.
