Subaru Corp CEO Yasuyuki Yoshinaga stated on Wednesday his company would think “positively” about making investment in a Toyota-Mazda electric vehicle company if it were approached.

Last month, Toyota Motor and Mazda Motor announced a new venture to develop electric vehicle technology, looking to overtake rivals in a race to produce more battery-powered vehicles.

Subaru, which formed a capital alliance with Toyota in 2006, is sending out numerous engineers to the new venture, the company stated.

Yoshinaga was speaking to press reporters at the Tokyo Motor Show, which was opened for media on Wednesday.
