Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV’s U.S. unit stated on Friday it would recall about 228,508 trucks in the United States, Canada, Mexico and some other countries to prevent drivers from accidentally shifting their vehicles from “park”.

The brake transmission shift interlock (BTSI) might overheat on some vehicles, FCA US LLC stated, including that it would cause the shifter to be rearranged without brake-pedal application, or the existence of a key in the ignition.

The overheating happens when a driver keeps a foot on the brake while the vehicle is idling in park.

The company stated it is unaware of any injuries or accidents related to this recall, which is limited to vehicles equipped with gear-shifters on their guiding columns.

In December, the unit stated it would recall about 1.8 million trucks in the United States, Canada, Mexico and some other countries to repair a part if not operating could permit the chauffeur to shift from park without depressing the brake pedal.
