Volvo XC90 suffers from defective fuel line. Being recalled in China

It seems the saga of recalling cars continues with the latest to indulge into it is the Volvo Car Corp. that is recalling 571 XC90 SUVs that it has sold in China. The car major cited defects of the fuel line as the reason behind recalling the cars back.

As per information available on the official site of China’s quality regulator, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ), the recall would cover a total of 571 vehicles which includes XC90s with a 3.2-liter engine and XC90 luxury SUVs equippd with a 2.5 liter engine. All of the recalled vehicles have been built during October 26, 2009 and December 21, 2009.

The recall notice let out by Volvo mentions a manufacturing defect in the fuel pressure line that may lead to fuel smell or even fuel leakage in drastic situations. Also, since the fuel is circulating at a high pressure through the fuel lines, the leakage might attain bigger proportions later on, creating serious risk of fire at the right front wheel house area in presence of an external ignition source.

All those who come under the purview of the recall have been asked to get in touch with an authorized Volvo dealer where the fuel pressure line will be subjected to a thorough inspection or maybe even replaced if it so warranted. The owners of the affected car can also call Volvo helpline at 400-678-1200, or contact the GAQSIQ.
