Ford Motor is recalling 15,587 vehicles, including 2014 Ford Edge SUVs, 2014 through 2016 Ford Explorer SUVs, and 2014 through 2016 Ford Taurus sedans, to repair a faulty bracket in the drivetrain that could increase accident risk.
If the part fails, it could result in one of two situations that could cause a crash. Either the automobile could lose power while in motion, or it might not go into Park when stopped, putting it at risk of rolling away.
The automaker said in a statement that it is not aware of any crashes or injuries associated with this recall.
A part called a link shaft bracket may fracture unexpectedly, which the automaker says is caused by vehicle vibrations. If that happens, drivers may not be able to put the vehicle into park (which could put it at risk of rolling away) or the vehicle may lose power while it would be moving.
