Seven were killed and four others injured after the vehicle they were traveling in crashed into a house when they were fleeing a police stop.
The crash took place before midnight Monday near the center of Morahalom, some 170 km south of Budapest.
The vehicle had a Serbian license plate.
Officers were checking the Serbian-registered minivan when the driver tried to flee the scene at high speed. The vehicle crashed into a house and overturned.
Seven occupants of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene while four others, including the driver, were injured.
Police arrested the man and said they will start proceedings against him for human trafficking and for causing a deadly mass vehicle crash.
