Acura has a useful problem on its hands. The broader U.S. luxury market cooled after the first three months of the year, yet Honda’s premium division moved upward. BMW stayed in front with 84k units, down almost four percent, while Lexus landed near 81k, roughly 2.5 percentage points lower. Mercedes-Benz reached 70k after a three percent drop. Cadillac fell to 31k, Audi slipped by 30% to under 30k, and Lincoln ended near 24k.

Acura went the other way, rising by more than five percent to over 32k units. The refreshed Integra helped. The MDX helped, too. So did the entry-level ADX crossover SUV, a model aimed at buyers looking for a more accessible premium badge. Against this background, the next Acura RDX starts to matter more than a routine redesign.
The RDX has served as Acura’s counterpart to the CR-V since 2006, and the fourth-generation model now appears closer to shape. Earlier this year, a teaser suggested a different path. Honda then revised the plan around the nameplate, moving away from the all-electric idea and toward a two-motor hybrid powertrain. For Acura, this would be the first model in its lineup with such a setup.
3rd Gen Acura RDX
The rumor mill has already fed the CGI crowd. Digital car artists used the official teaser as a starting point, while the “TopElectricSUV” outlet added fresh details and renderings in several colors. The report says the Acura CUV should target rivals from Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Lexus, and Mercedes-Benz. The exterior direction sounds sharper, with split headlights at the front, a more sculpted profile, and a reshaped rear section.
Inside, the recently-discontinued Acura ZDX enters the discussion. Some elements from that model might appear in the RDX, including the floating center-screen dashboard layout. The logic is simple enough: shared cabin solutions help control costs when a brand works across related models. At least, that is the direction suggested by the current report.

Under the skin, the future Acura RDX Hybrid is expected to use Honda’s next-generation platform. The structure is said to be lighter and stiffer than the outgoing version. A two-motor HEV system is also mentioned, along with Honda’s proprietary virtual gearbox technology, similar to the setup linked with the Honda Prelude.
Power should sit well above 200 horsepower. That figure will not make the RDX a headline-chasing performance SUV, but this model was never described that way here. The larger point is more practical. Acura has sales momentum, a stronger small-SUV ladder, and a hybrid RDX waiting to give the brand another answer in a crowded luxury field.
