Lexus Is Now Selling a 68-Foot Luxury Yacht Globally – Because Apparently Cars Aren’t Enough

At some point, calling Lexus a car manufacturer becomes slightly restrictive. The company already talks about itself as a luxury lifestyle brand. Now it has a fairly convincing argument: you can buy a Lexus that’s 20.63 meters long and has two Volvo Penta marine engines.

The Lexus LY 680 luxury yacht is expanding beyond Japan into overseas markets, following its physical world debut earlier in 2026. It will also appear at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in Florida from October 28 to November 1.

And no, this isn’t a concept with a Lexus badge glued onto somebody else’s boat for a motor show.

The LY 680 is a production yacht.

It evolves the earlier LY 650, but Lexus has made some useful changes rather than simply adding 30 to the name. The flybridge is approximately 1.4 meters longer, while the rear swimming platform has gained another 700 mm. Overall length now stands at 20.63 meters, or roughly 68 feet.  Width is 5.76 meters.

There are three cabins accommodating up to six overnight guests, while total passenger capacity is listed at 15. Then we get to the engines.

Lexus uses a pair of Volvo Penta IPS 1350 or IPS 1050 units, depending on specification, supplied by a fuel tank holding a decidedly un-Prius-like 4,012 liters.

Nobody will be discussing WLTP figures here.

The yacht itself is produced by Taiwan’s Horizon Group, an established builder of large luxury yachts. Lexus handles the design and overall customer experience, while Horizon contributes its marine engineering and manufacturing expertise. Interestingly, Lexus says production methods derived from the Toyota Production System are also incorporated into the project.

So somewhere, somehow, there’s a philosophical connection between a Corolla factory and this floating apartment.

Lexus calls the philosophy behind the LY 680 “c.”

Marketing language aside, the interior explains what it means. The yacht is intended to function as a private living environment rather than merely transport across water, with substantial lounge areas, a large flybridge and the sort of materials normally associated with Lexus’s road-going flagships.

This isn’t Lexus abandoning cars for boats. It’s Lexus testing how far the brand itself can stretch.

That strategy isn’t unusual among high-end manufacturers. Once customers are buying expensive cars partly because of the experience and identity surrounding the badge, there’s obvious temptation to sell them something else carrying the same values.

Lexus has simply taken that logic farther offshore than most.

The LY 680 went on sale in Japan in 2024, made its physical world debut in March 2026 and is now entering international markets.

Perhaps the strangest thing about it is how unsurprising it now feels. A Lexus yacht sounded bizarre when the company first explored the idea.

Several years later, a 68-foot Lexus with three bedrooms almost seems like the inevitable next trim level above an LS.
