Spy Shots: Dodge’s Next Small Car Tested In Death Valley

Maybe you still remember the Dodge Hornet… A few years ago it was rumored to be the automaker’s first foray into the subcompact B-segment. It was even scheduled to be produced in conjunction with Chinese automaker Chery, but these plans never came true, so we’ve had to used with the unpleasant Dodge Caliber  as brand’s only small car offering. Now it’s time for something new.

Considering that Fiat has taken control of the Chrysler Group, a whole slew of new products will be worked into the Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep lineups. Here we can also include a new Alfa Romeo-based small car that might just pick up where the Hornet left off, albeit in a slightly larger (C-segment) package.

The prototype seen testing in the Death Valley, still keeps a lot of its Alfa skin, though Autoblog’ s spies indicate that the front end design (complete with LED strip) may carry over to the production car, and it’s possible that the sheetmetal will, as well.

Probably when Dodge’s new small car will debut, the Caliber wil disappear around the same time. Below, in the photo gallery you can find the newest spy pics with this car, taken in the Death Valley.
