2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo Caught Testing: Spy Shots

by Ionut Dragomir

California’s Death Valley is the hot weather testing place for many brands, offery the most harsh conditions for a car. Well that’s the place where Motorauthority’s spy photographers has caught the upcoming turbocharged version of the Hyundai Veloster sports coupe.

These latest photos confirms previous reports that a hotter Veloster was in the works and, the most important aspect, they reveals some new details of this car.

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbotest mule seems to pick up a new exhaust system, with circular dual tips replacing the squarer shaped standard ones. Beside this, the prototype reaveals some new design details including more aggressively styled bumpers and flared wheel arches.

Considering that the standard model puts out just 138 horsepower and 123 pound-feet of torque, a turbocharged version of the standard Veloster’s 1.6-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine should deliver upwards of 208 horsepower and 195 pound-feet of torque.

So far, no official details were published, but rumors say that the upcoming turbocharged Veloster will exceed the $25,000 limit and will likely debut mid-next year, with a showroom appearance to follow shortly after.
