Toyota President Akio Toyoda has said that Toyota could use some more excitement in their model range.
At this month’s Tokyo Motor Show Toyota will introduce a concept called FH-86, that should bring more excitement and refreshment to automakers model range.
Inspired by the legendary AE86 Corolla Coupe form the eighties it uses a similar recipe: low weight, rear wheel drive and racecar-like handling.
The FT-86(“86” pronounced “hachi roku”) Concept is designed by Toyota’s ED2 studio in France. Power comes from a 2.0-liter Subaru Boxer engine that sits low and far back for better handling. This new 2+2 sports coupe is 163.78 inches long, 69.29 inches wide and has a wheelbase of 101.18 inches.
Production version should debut next year at a major motor show in North America. Sales are expected to start sometimes in mid-2011 with U.S. pricing set little over $20,000.
