2012 Lexus LF-A Nürburgring – Photos and Info

In June 2010, the Lexus LF-A test driver died when his car crashed into a 3-series BMW. It would have been understandable if Lexus would have dropped this project, but instead they released their LF-A Nürburgring a year later.

The 2012 Lexus LF-A can, in some areas be compared to Bugatti’s Veyron. It’s being powered by an incredibly powerful engine (a naturally aspirated 4.8-liter V10 that delivers 552 horsepower and 480nm of torque, both at 8700 rpm). The engine is coupled with a six-speed clutchless manual transmission. This leads the power to the rear-wheel drive system.

The LF-A accelerates from 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds and hits a top speed of 325 km/h.

This car weighs only 1480kg. Such a small weight is possible thanks to the massive use of carbon and glass fibre.

There will only be around 500 LF-As available for purchase, at an unbelievable price of $546,000. Out of those 500, only 50 will be the Nürburgring special edition, with an even higher price: $650,000.

Sure, this car sounds good in theory, but in this reviewer’s opinion, it’s nowhere near worth $650,000. You could get a car with the same performance, and from a company whose name turns heads with less money.
