2013 Volkswagen Golf VII GTI concept: Paris Motor Show

The first official images of the Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI (Grand Touring Injection) concept has been unveiled. Although its know to be an ‘concept car’, it is believed that this car will be likely remaining unchanged for production version.

The New Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI sits on 17 mm lower wheelbase than the standard Golf 7 and the new Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI adds a honeycomb grille, red pin striping, dual-tone alloys in a choice of 17-/18-inch wheels and twin exhaust pipes.

The Golf 7 GTI concept has hinted that the production car of this version would likely be remaining in a corresponding vein to its predecessor, which means it would be all about more balance and comfort than absolute power.

As far as features are concerned, the cabin is also a accurate transformation of the current parameter that throws in beautiful features, such as a golf ball-inspired gear knob, flat-bottomed steering wheel, chronograph-style dials, red mood lighting, retro-flavoured tartan seat panels and aluminium finishes for the pedal boots.

A robust Drivetrain is provided by a 2.0-litre TFSI(Turbocharged Fuel Stratified Injection) turbopetrol engine which develops 164 kW and 350 N.m of torque. If the sources are to believed then the production car will be offered with a performance pack that will shoot the power output up to 171 kW.

In its standard form, the Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI will return an average fuel consumption figure of 39.1 mpg US (47 mpg UK or 6 liters / 100 km), with that figure they have reduced the fuel consumption up by 1.3 litres compared to the present Golf 7 GTI.

According to Volkswagen Group, the standard DGS(Direct Shift Gearbox)-equipped Volkswagen Golf 7 GTI will run the 0-100 km/h sprint in 6.6 seconds on the way delivering a top-notch speed of 246 km/h (153 mph).
