Volkwagen Polo R to be all wheel drive

by David Bond

Recently, Volkswagen has released the Polo R WRC, the best looking version of its supermini . One may me surprised that since the model, a limited-edition one, has just arrived, there is nothing new we can expect from VW on this topic, but now there are new rumors that comes to contradict such expectations.

Since the Polo R WRC was launched so early, the carmaker is in the process of planning additional versions of the car to keep the public’s interest at a huge level.

As a result we could see the Polo R receive four-wheel drive in the future. The Polo is underpinned by the same PQ25 platform as the Audi A1.

“There could be some customer interest, so I think four-wheel drive could be excellent for some markets. There are no plans as of now, but I could imagine it,” Head of VW R&D, Ulrich Hackenberg, said.

Stay tuned for further details and specifications.
