Aston Martin has formally unveiled the 2013 Rapide S which will possible come with a power enhancement.
The gorgeous four-door coupe has received the “S” mark to match the increased output as the naturally-aspirated V12 5.9-liter engine now produces 558 HP (410 kW) representing an 81 HP (59 kW) increase over the pre-facelift variant. Torque is also up from 600 Nm (442 lb-ft) to 620 Nm (457 lb-ft).
The altered Rapide covers 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds, which makes it 0.3 seconds faster than earlier. Its top speed has also increased from 188 mph (302.5 km/h) to 190 mph (305.7 km/h). Even though it packs more punch, the Rapide S is now 0.9 mpg UK more efficient as it can give 19.9 mpg UK (16.5 mpg US or 14.1 liters / 100 km), while CO2 emissions have been reduced from 355 g/km to 332 g/km.
Design changes have remained more or less similar, but we can notice a revised front grille and rear lip spoiler. optionally available is a Carbon Exterior Pack which includes carbon fiber-made front splitter, rear lamp infills, rear diffuser and exterior mirror housings.
On the interior side it gets new piano black trim and optional red & black Duotone leather upholstery. With the rear seats folded flat, the Rapide offers a load weight of almost 900 liters. Among the traits, we should mention a twin-screen rear seat entertainment system and a reversing camera.
Prices are yet to be announced but it is expected to remain the same as the outgoing model so a starting price of around 150,000 GBP is expected. (about 178,434 EUR or 237,420 USD). The Rapide would be available for sale in February.
