The Geneva Motor Show has started as Volkswagen has taken the covers off the 2013 Golf GTI.
Looking almost similar to the concept, production model has a sporty body kit with a rear diffuser, modified bumpers and a tailgate-mounted spoiler. There’s also honeycomb grille inserts, xenon headlights and chromed exhaust tips. Other features include tinted taillights, a sport-tuned suspension and 17- to 19-inch alloy wheels.
The inside part also gets facelifted as it has been fitted with tartan pattern sport seats, red accent stitching and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. Other things include gloss black trim, stainless steel pedals, a unique gear knob and red ambient lighting.
Power gets boost from a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that churns 220 HP (162 kW) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque – an increase of 10 HP (7 kW) and 70 Nm (52 lb-ft). This lets the model to speed up from 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds and hit a high speed of 246 km/h (153 mph).
The Golf GTI will be put on block this May and prices in Germany start at €28,350.
