Chrysler has recently officially unveiled the 2014 Ram 1500.
The Ram 1500 was recently given an extensive facelift, and now it has been given minor updates including a revised color palette – that now includes Blue Streak and Granite Crystal – and a brand new front park assist system that can detect objects that are up to 47.2 inches (120 cm) away. There are other features as well which include a variable displacement air compressor and a pulse-width modulation blower which help to reduce parasitic engine loss to improve fuel efficiency.
The notable feature of the truck is the addition of a 3.0-liter V6 EcoDiesel engine that generates 240 hp (179 kW) and 420 lb-ft (568 Nm) of torque. It is mated to an eight-speed auto transmission which will enable the truck to have a best-in-class fuel economy rating.
The 2014 Ram 1500 will be priced from $24,200 (excludes a destination charge of $1,095). Trucks equipped with the EcoDiesel engine will cost $2,850 more than similarly equipped models with the 5.7-liter HEMI V8 and the eight-speed automatic transmission.
