Volkswagen Golf GTD entering to the U.S.

by David Bond

Taking into consideration the increasingly popularity of the diesel engines in the United States, Volkswagen has decided to bring the Golf GTD to America.

Though the same will not arrive before 2015, the Golf GTD features a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel engine that generates 184 HP (135 kW) and 280 lb-ft (380 Nm) of torque. The engine would be connected to a six-speed manual transmission. The model will be able to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 kmph) in 7.5 seconds and will come with a top speed of 143 mph (230 kmph).

Golf product manager Andreas Valbuena stated that for them this model is a very important part of their full range of offerings and a technology halo for their diesel technology.

The Golf GTD in the US is expected to cost approximately $27,000 as a 2016 model.
