Volkswagen has recently updated its Beetle Dune concept for the upcoming 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) that is scheduled to take place in January.
The original Beetle Dune concept that can be seen in attached images was introduced by Volkswagen in the year 2000 and now the German marque has upgraded the concept based on the latest generation. The vehicle adopts a rugged crossover-like styling approach with features such as flared wheel arches, protective plates, black moldings and large alloy wheels.
Talking about the interiors, the cabin comes equipped with several yellow accents and a handle which has now replaced the glove box.
The company has also fitted the 2014 Beetle Dune concept with a 4-cylinder, 2.0-liter gasoline engine that can generate an output of 210 HP (154 kW). The power will be transferred to the wheels through a dual-clutch 6-speed DSG.
There are rumors that are already indicating that a production version is due sometime in 2015. However the official confirmation is yet to be received and we can expect more details about the model once the same is launched in the upcoming show.
